What do you do when your boss is making false accusations about you to other employees behind your back?

I can't list the details because they would stand out too much but needless to say the employee being fed the accusations about me is a good friend and lets me know all the details of the conversations. I am just finding it difficult to deal with as my boss is a snap case and if you get on his bad side for any reason he simply fires you...an example being questioning him on his accusations behind my back.What do you do when your boss is making false accusations about you to other employees behind your back?
Poop in a bag and set in on fire under your boss' desk.What do you do when your boss is making false accusations about you to other employees behind your back?
So, I take it these allegations have been made when you aren't listening?

In a casual conversation with the coworkers and the boss present, I would state the false allegations and say...

';They aren't true. Whoever is saying these things is a liar. Or possibly mentally unbalanced -- that seems more likely, that there's something wrong with them in the head, rather than they're just out to get me. I don't know who is saying such things, but I wouldn't ever believe anything they have to say.';
You should read your employee handbook to find out what to do. Do not go over his head to his boss. Go to your HR department. They deal with that sort of thing, not his boss.
you should go over his head... have the person he is telling the accusations to go with you as a witness to the accusations.
Openly confront him and publicly tell him to prove his accusations or be taken to court for slander.
Search for and get another job.

No matter where you are in your career, entry level or management, no one should up with this type of slanderous behavior. If your company has an HR I would go to them and speak about the problem, bring in your friend as a witness to these incidents. The worst case senario in this instance is that the HR person takes the bosses side and you, and your friend are terminated. NOT LIKELY, as there are clear laws that prohibit hostile work environments, like the one you have discribed, and HR is all about legal liability.

Either way, at least you stood up, instead of feeling like you have to cower.
document all accusations.

Approach him with several co-workers about it. Go over his head with the proof and witnesses (your co-workers) and tell them whats going on..
get a different job.
Document all the allegations (sorry, you'll need to include your friend's name). Save them, because you'll need them when you quit or are fired. It's obvious your boss wants you out, so you need to build a case for compensation when he does it, or when you get fed up. This would be considered 'constructive firing', forcing you to quit.
This is slander and you could sue for this. If you have witnesses that can back up your claims or you story then you have enough proof to go to court over it ( that is if you want to)

If your reputation or career is ruined by this person's accusations I'd suggest doing so!

Good Luck
';employee being fed the accusations about me is a good friend ';

He /She is not your friend, good friends do not repeat rumors to friends and upset them

I would take all of this with a grain of salt
ask your boss why he said it maybe.
you can sue the company for hostile environment.
i call him marica
