Does anyone know how to get a charge taken off your criminal record when accuser admits to false accusations?

You would have to request what is called an expungement. They are time consuming and not guarenteed. Even though the victim is recanting, the judge may deny the request for expungement. If you decide this is what you want to do, hire an attorney that knows how to do it - many different agencies must be served with thre request and given time to give input about agreeing with or opposing the request.

I would have the accuser write up an affidavit about their recanting, and ask them if they would be willing to tesify if you can get an expungement hearing.

[edit] brokenheart - Your statement is completely false. There are many situations where part of a plea agreement is the possibility of expungement after a certain amount of time. You're giving people bad advice.Does anyone know how to get a charge taken off your criminal record when accuser admits to false accusations?
If you pled to anything, you cannot get it expunged. You must either be acquitted or found not guilty.Does anyone know how to get a charge taken off your criminal record when accuser admits to false accusations?
talk to a lawyer about getting it expunge he or she should be able help you or lead you in the right direction for help.
once your are arrested you get what is known as a PFN....(personal file number) which never never goes away.Doesnt matter if your father is a supreme court judge. It will come up every time your drivers licence is checked by a police officer in any state!
The first poster was correct.....there will be money involved. Crazy isn't it.....have to still pay money when you didn't do anything wrong.
Make sure the proper authorities know about the admission. That would be the police and the prosecuting attorney. If a conviction has been entered, then the courts would get involved.

Point being, if you have such evidence and you pursue proper legal channels, you will get the charge taken off your criminal record.
