What is the legal term; when someone is making false accusations against you and your character?

a person is committing this act ? when the are tell other people that you have or will do the wrong thing because you are socially dis functionalWhat is the legal term; when someone is making false accusations against you and your character?
if they make a police report= false reporting, filing a false report

if they file a false restraining order within a court, testifying as to the truthfulness =false reporting, perjury

if they do it in writing =libel

if they do it verbally= slander

if they are found guilty they get criminal penalties that vary by state

if they are found guilty or you have enough proof to sue them civilly, then they could be held financially responsible for whatever they cost you (mental anguish, loss of job, loss of respect in the community, etc.)

if they falsely accuse you during a child custody dispute, and the false allegation involves themselves, or children, and they do it with the intent of them winning in family court, they could lose all custody of the children

NOW WHAT YOU CAN DO

if you are being harassed by false allegations, you can file an ';anti-harassment'; petition that works like a restraining order, restraining them from making further false allegations

IF THEY ARE falsely accusing you in order to gain something (money, things) then this goes into blackmail/extortion which is also a crime, and you should report this to the authorities, you can also civilly sue them

hope that this helpsWhat is the legal term; when someone is making false accusations against you and your character?
Defamation of Character...

In law, defamation (also called calumny, libel (for written words), slander (for spoken words), and vilification) is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. It is usually, but not always,[1] a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant).
slander?

A type of defamation. Slander is an untruthful oral (spoken) statement about a person that harms the person's reputation or standing in the community. Because slander is a tort (a civil wrong), the injured person can bring a lawsuit against the person who made the false statement. If the statement is made via broadcast media -- for example, over the radio or on TV -- it is considered libel, rather than slander, because the statement has the potential to reach a very wide audience.
defamation, part of the first ammendment, but it is very hard to prove because if you say you heard from someone you cant get charged for it.
