Can you sue someone for false accusation?

i push carts for walmart and a customer accused me that i hit his van and i didn't touch it. insisted i did and im wondering can i sue for false accusation. Can you sue someone for false accusation?
Oscar, you sound like me in someways. I don't like to be accused of things I didn't do, and will go to great lengths to prove I am correct.

Yes you can sue him or her. You can pretty much sue anyone you like. But it doesn't mean you are going to win. Chances are you are going to lose. And since you are the plaintiff, the burden of proof is on you. It won't be an issue of whether or not you damaged his car. You will have to prove, to the judge's satisfaction, that the person maliciously slandered your name. If the guy believes you did actually damage his car, even if you know you didn't, but he believes you did then there is no malice.

In other words, you would be taking a day off work to sit in a court room. You would lose wages for that day. And if the defendant wins, you could end up paying his court costs. He may also use this as an opportunity to sue you for the damages he believes you did to his vehicle.

My advice? Let it go!Can you sue someone for false accusation?
You can sue whom ever you like, yet why??

If you were on the job at the time, he would need to pursue a claim with Walmart. They normally have security casing the area or possibly cameras.

If he presents his case to Walmart, they in turn would take a close look at the situation. If it's not worth going to court over, they'll pay the claim to avoid more legal fees.

As for malice or defamation of character, let it go. Life is too short the worry over the little things. You'd spend way too much time in small claims, losing work hours and sleep.
To sue someone you will probably have to go to court and pay alot of lawyer fees and probably not gain much if not lose money in the process.

However, if because of this you have lost your job or anything more serious then i guess it would be right to take action. If it was just a accusation and he just walked away after then you shouldn't take it too seriously.

Alot of people are like that don't worry, ignore them and just get on with life.
no im sure you can because ive heard people whove done it

im in a police academy and im sure you can

ask your manager to check the security cameras and look at the persons face for expression that will show lies and make them tell more lies so you know how they act like

its a mind game

and good luck
You sue for damages and loss (defamation) of character.

What was damaged?

What character was lost? Do people think less of you? Were you famous before?

===

Probably not.

Good Luck...
Yes you can sue him.
Are you for real??

Jees, get a life !
