Why don't more people sue for false accusation?

I mean like the Duke lacross players. Someone has to stop this. All a woman has to do is accuse apparently without any evidence. Why don't more people sue for false accusation?
You can sue for defamation of character, slander, and false arrest. The accuser can also go to prison for perjury or filing a false police report (Lil Kim just did recently)

The Duke case is different from most cases. In the real world, a woman cannot just accuse. Rape cases (especially date rape or rape between friends/lovers/etc) are the hardest cases to prove, because even if you prove sexual intercourse occurred, you have to prove it wasn't consentual.

Like the first person said, by suing them though, it's likely to cost more than you'll get from that person in damages. Why don't more people sue for false accusation?
Because their not demmies
Read the false accusation statute carefully. It likely has language in there that you have to knowingly and maliciously make a false accusation.

How do you prove this was done knowingly if she was drunk when she made the accusation? How do you prove malice? If she claims she made a mistake, she has a fair shot of getting out of it, without any other proof even being offered.
It takes money to retain an attorney and file a lawsuit. There is no guarantee you will win. I think some feel it simply isn't worth the expense.
it's the money
I think it's because of the expense of taking a case to court.

What would be better is if the authorities charged lying accusers with perjury
