What happens when people make false accusations to the police?

How do the police deal with such people? What happens when people make false accusations to the police?
It depends....

Is the accusation easily provable as false, or could it be the result of a misunderstanding etc.

For example a report of a loud part, when there wasn't one. Likely nothing will happen.

Or a false report of a sex assault. Which is provable to be false. Likely a false reporting charge. What happens when people make false accusations to the police?
If the police is ' hand - in - gloves '; with the complainant, in the false accusation, then, the alleged accused person may have to, suffer for a limited time and blame his bad luck. But, ultimate result in Trial of the case will go in his favour. After acquital, the accused has an oppertunity to sue the complainant, claiming for damages from him, for falsely implicating him in a criminal case.
Others are correct...it is a misdemeanor. What you are really asking is whether you will get charged with a crime. This depends on 2 things.

The cops: As we say, did you pass the attitude test? Was it small and trivial or was it big? Does the cop think you actions are worth the paperwork?

The D.A.: Remember, cops do not charge crimes, prosecutors do. The larger the city the less likely a crime will be charged. D.A.'s simply have better things to do in metropolitans.
your charged with filing a false report, a misdemeanor
Depends on what you are lying about, but obstruction of justice can land you in jail
Charge them, sue them or beat them.
don't you get charged for that? its called the somthing of justice. i forgot.
